"Okay, all right, now, let's see. Where were we? Oh, yes: in the Pit of Despair."

About navigating the site:

  • The recent updates section on the landing page will show all new content updates and uploads, except for the photo blog.
  • All content pages should be directly accessible from the links on the bottom of the landing page. No navigating through three different pages to find one thing here :)
  • The nested links in the header should bring you to the relevant section on the landing page. For example clicking poems will spit you back out in the general area of where the rest of the poems are.
  • I try to keep this page pretty sensory-friendly; that being said, there won't be any audio or videos set to auto-play, nor any giant garish nightmare GIFs without some kind of warning.
  • All external links open in a new tab; all internal ones will just bring you straight there.
  • There are 2 people in charge of running this site: me, and me when I'm being dumb. If anything goes wrong, it's the other me's fault.

Some other things I like:

  • Thunderstorms, especially at night.
  • Moth hunting.
  • Dancing and hangin out at goth clubs.
  • Baking, occasionally. Cheesecake is my specialty.
  • Literature: The Lives of the Muses by Francine Prose; The Library of Babel by Jorge Luis-Borges.
  • Music: New wave, goth and jazz.
  • Movies: Little Shop of Horrors (1986); eXistenZ (1999); and anything with bio-horror themes.
  • Poets: Frank O'Hara and Edna Millay.
  • Colors: Blue-grey, viridian and brown.
  • Collections: Poetry books, US coins, minerals, teacups, insect specimens, stickers, four-leaf clovers.
  • Favorite Arizona flavor: Half iced tea half mango.

My pen name is Francis Morgan Gaarden, or "FMG" for short. You can call me any of those names or my IRL name, Ev. My pronouns are they/he.

I love entomology, poetry, making playlists, collecting things, and Pre-Raphaelite art. I am a nondualist; my personal beliefs about life, the universe and everything more or less align with the Hindu philosophy called Advaita Vedanta.

My site URL, 'ephemerium', is a made-up word meaning "a collection of short-lived things". It embodies what I want to do with this site, in short, to preserve and encapsulate fleeting moments I feel like writing down and whatever else I find interesting.

This website is a big chronic hot mess/work-in-progress. Please pardon any broken-ness, but also let me know if you see that I messed something specific up, like a link or whatever. It's much appreciated. :)

This is my GifyPet, Trapinch. I found him on a desert route in Hoenn on my GBA emulator and fell in love with his little sparkle eyes. Give him pets and maybe a snack while you're here! And maybe take your own GifyPet home with you, too.
