Tipping Rock loop on the Tunxis Trail
on 2025-04-06 in New Hartford, CT
This was a great trail with a couple of nice water features on your long and arduous way up to the lookout point for which it is named after. I included the photo I accidentally took while dropping my phone into one of the brooks, LOL

A spiderweb!

Citronella ants (Acanthomyops sp.) So called because apparently if you crush them, they smell like lemons ???? I did not do this

The little waterfalls and my phone crying out for help at the end

Some of the Lady's Slippers I saw (Cypripedium acaule), an orchid native to the area. They require very specific conditions in order to germinate, including a certain fungus needing to be present in the soil, so they are rather uncommon.

An American Giant millipede (Narceus americanus)

A little man AKA Eastern newt (Notophthalmus viridescens)

IDK. Don't eat it

The view from Tipping Rock.
